Eliot Community Service Department Park Policies
Carry-In, Carry-Out Trash Policy
Effective April 1, 2012 the Eliot Community Service Department will be adopting a “Carry-In, Carry-Out” policy for waste management at the fields and parks in Eliot. Trash & recycling barrels will no longer be provided at the Town of Eliot’s Facilities; therefore visitors, spectators, and all who use the Community Service Department’s Recreational Facilities will be asked to carry-out their waste, and dispose of it in a proper manner, or to recycle it when applicable.
There are numerous benefits to this new program, some of which are listed below:
  • Removal of garbage and recycling containers eliminates the smells and the mess they create, thereby creating a more pleasant atmosphere for all to enjoy.
  • Less wildlife rummaging through trash barrels and littering the parks/fields.
  • Terminates the swarms of bees around barrels, creating a safer environment for everyone.
  • Less time spent on trash pick-up that will be re-directed for field improvements.
Carry-In, Carry-Out policy effective at these facilities beginning April 1, 2012:
Boat Basin
Frost Tufts Park
William Murray Rowe Park
Dixon Road Recreation Area (to include Skate Park, Ice Skating Rink)
Please assist us to help keep our recreation areas clean by
carrying out what you’ve carried in!
